Reaching the summit of Mount Everest is the most exhilarating experience that you will ever have. If you are planning an ascent yourself then you will probably have many questions about what you can expect from your expedition. One thing that a lot of people ask is what they will actually be able to see from the top of the mountain. There are a lot of different views to be taken in. However, it is important to remember that if visibility is poor on the day then it is very unlikely that you will be able to see anything at all.

On a clear day you can actually see many other mountains from the summit of Mount Everest. Ama Dablam is located in Eastern Nepal and stands at a height of 22,494 feet tall. If the visibility is good, you will be able to see this peak. You will also be able to see Changtse which is considerably taller at 24,747 feet tall, as well as Nuptse which is even taller, standing at 25,850 feet tall. As you can imagine, the views from the summit of these mountains is spectacular. However, this is just the tip of the iceberg so to speak.

On a clear day, you can actually see the third tallest mountain in the world, Kanchenjunga. This mountain is located along the India-Nepal Border in the Himalayas. It stands seventy six miles in the distance from the summit of Mount Everest, and really is a spectacular sight to see. This mountain stands at 28,169 feet tall. You will also be able to see the fourth highest mountain in the world; Lhotse. This is actually connected to Mount Everest via the South Col. This mountain stands at a very impressive 27,940 ft.

The fifth and sixth tallest mountains in the world, Makalu and Cho Oyu, are also visible on a good day. As you can imagine, there are plenty of views to be taken in from the summit of Mount Everest. As well as this, there are plenty of views to be taken in by looking down as well. The Rongbuk Glacier is one of the first things that you will see. This is located in southern Tibet. The Tibetan Plateau is also visible from the summit if the atmosphere is clear. As you can see, there are plenty of things to see.

However, one of the most exciting things that you can see from the summit of Mount Everest is the curvature of the earth. There are very few places on earth where you will actually be able to clearly see the earth’s curvature, and this is one of them. Aside from this, you will also be able to look down and see the majority of the route that you have actually climbed. So, as you can see from the information above, there are some stunning views to be taken in from the summit of Mount Everest, it just depends on the visibility.
