EXPEDITION NOW FINISHED

27th May: Andre left Camp 2 on Saturday 24th, and returned through the ice fall safely to Base Camp in the afternoon. On Sunday 25th, he left Base Camp for his trip back to the UK.

23rd May: Andre reached the summit safely this morning at around 8am. All is ok and now on his descent. His intends to stay at Camp 3 for the night and continue his descent tomorrow.

22nd May: On Sunday the 18th Andre and the team rested at Camp 2. Monday the 19th so unfavourable weather which aborted the planned climb to Camp 3. Tuesday the 20th was better weather which permitted the team to reach Camp 3. Today the plan was to reach Camp 4 ready for the summit.

17th May: Andre left Base Camp at around 5am this morning and has arrived safe and well at Camp 2. Tomorrow he will have a rest day before pushing on for Camp 3.

15th May: Andre left Base Camp at 6am on 9th May and arrived at Camp 2 at around 3pm. Andre was relieved to get some late lunch and numerous cups of tea after the heat from the Western Cwm. The 10th May was spent recovering and resting after yesterday's efforts to reach Camp 2. The 11th May he left Camp 2 at 7 am to touch Camp 3. Within sight of Camp 3 the weather suddenly turned with the wind picking up and it began to snow quite heavily, he decided it was time to turn back and head back down. He got back to Camp 2 in time for lunch. The rest of the afternoon was spent in his tent with a heavy snow storm outside. On the 12th May he woke to see the Western Cwm covered with fresh snow. It was time to descend back to Base Camp, which he reached by midday. He is now resting for a few days before his summit push.

1st May: Mount Everest has today been officially closed. The Nepalese side of Everest is closed for two days, May 1 and May 2, to allow the Olympic flame to reach the summit of the mountain – from the Chinese side. As with all the other expeditions here, we will wait for the all clear before going back up.

29th April:  Andre left Base Camp for Camp 1 on the 24th April where he stayed the night. The following morning, the 25th, he left Camp 1 and headed up to Camp 2. Andre had said it was “another long cold night awake and there were a few rumbles in the distance during the night with avalanches”. Andre left for Base Camp on the 27th April, it took him just 3 hours to make the descent. He is happy to be back down, and looking forward to a good wash and to take his boots off!

23rd April:  Today is a rest day for Andre. He has spent his first night at Camp 1which went ok although he felt the change in altitude. His plan is to head out to Camp 2 in a couple of days time.

18th April: Andre has made his first trip into the Khumbu Icefall, reaching the half way point before descending back to Base Camp

15th April: Andre has now arrived at Everest Base Camp
